After beating Movsar Evloev at UFC 333, Alexander Volkanovski is thinking about a rematch with Ilia Topuria. "If it was going to be for a lightweight title, that'd be great, because I get that win back as well," the featherweight champion told journalist Brendan Bradford, as reported by MMA Sucka and Heavy. Topuria took his featherweight title by knockout at UFC 298.
Topuria has since moved up to lightweight, where he lost to Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250 by TKO when his corner stopped the fight after the fourth round. "Gaethje took that zero, so I can't say that I get the chance to take that zero from him," Volkanovski said of Topuria's previously unblemished record. "But to get that win back would be great."
Right after UFC 333, Volkanovski had floated a superfight with lightweight champion Gaethje, after which he would retire. Neither fight has been booked.
