US distributor Grasshopper Film has released the trailer for 'Zi', the fourth feature from director Kogonada ('Columbus', 'After Yang', 'A Big Bold Beautiful Journey'). It centres on a young woman in Hong Kong haunted by visions of her future self. A stranger changes the course of one night – and possibly her life.
Michelle Mao plays the title role, with Haley Lu Richardson as Elle and Jin Ha as Min. Kogonada wrote, produced and edited the film himself. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January; Grasshopper Film acquired the rights in June.
The US release begins on 6 November with a limited run at New York's Metrograph. No German distributor has been announced.
