EU farm ministers discuss Baltic fishing quotas and farm policy after 2027

On Monday and Tuesday, the Agriculture and Fisheries Council seeks a political deal on 2027 catch limits and a partial position on the Common Agricultural Policy after 2027.

EU agriculture and fisheries ministers meet on Monday and Tuesday. According to the Council of the EU, they aim to reach a political agreement on fishing opportunities in the Baltic Sea for 2027. Catch limits are set by species and by country, as several fish stocks there are fragile.

The second major topic is the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2027. Ministers are seeking a partial negotiating position on the new rules, focusing on aid for farmers and environmental requirements. They will also discuss trade-related agricultural issues.

Ministers are also preparing the EU's position for the annual meeting of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT). The next major sectoral meeting is the Energy Council on 29 October in Luxembourg.
