Bulgarian exchange power 4.35% cheaper on Sunday at €229.89/MWh
The IBEX average price for 25 October is €229.89 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. Peak and night hours both get about 4.3–4.8% cheaper, and traded volume falls by more than 9%.
On the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour is set in an auction the day before. For Sunday 25 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €229.89 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. That is 4.35% less than on Saturday (€240.34) and the third decline in a row.
During peak hours (8:00 to 20:00), a megawatt-hour costs €218.15 on average, 4.76% less than Saturday's €229.06. In the remaining hours (off-peak) the price is €240.73, down 4.33% from €251.63. Night and evening power stays dearer than daytime power, by €22.58 per megawatt-hour.
Traded volume is 78,999.75 MWh, 9.31% less than on Saturday (87,112.45). Of this, 45,285.78 MWh falls in peak hours and 33,713.98 MWh in the remaining hours. Because clocks go back to winter time, the delivery day has 25 hours, with the extra hour at night. Even so, volume is lower, as is typical for a Sunday.
