A heavily depleted Bayern Munich won 3-1 (2-0 at half-time) at SC Freiburg in Sunday's Bundesliga matchday-seven game. Vincent Kompany was absent after his collapse on Friday, so assistant Aaron Danks took charge. Joshua Kimmich was also missing, and Jonas Urbig kept goal.
Dayot Upamecano won the ball and finished Michael Olise's pass for the opener in the 16th minute. Shortly before the break Serge Gnabry made it 2-0 after a one-two with Nathaniel Brown. Freiburg only got back into the game through a Tom Bischof own goal in the 82nd minute, and Urbig then denied them an equaliser. Olise settled it at 3-1 five minutes into stoppage time.
On 17 points, Bayern are back on top ahead of Borussia Dortmund, level on points but with a much better goal difference. Freiburg stay third with 13. Bayern host 1. FC Magdeburg in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday before facing Dortmund on Saturday.
