A solid combat system but a thin, repetitive campaign – one for fans of the books rather than RPG newcomers.

Summary of published reviews – sources below.

Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest from Peruvian studio Bamtang Games has been available since 23 October on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Switch and PC, published by Trailmark Games. The RPG is based on Erin Hunter’s Warriors novels for young readers: players create their own warrior cat, join one of four Clans and play through that Clan’s own campaign. Battles are turn-based with up to three cats per side, alongside hunting, a den to decorate and asynchronous online visits to friends.

Scores vary: COGconnected gives it 77 out of 100, The Outerhaven 3.5 out of 5, Brazil’s GameBlast 6.5 out of 10 and Nintendo Everything just 2 out of 5. OpenCritic does not yet show a critic average. Reviewers praise the extensive creator, the combat system with its stances and turn order, and scars that make your cat’s choices visible.

The campaign draws criticism: according to both reviews, the four Clan stories barely differ, and many missions consist of patrols and chases. Nintendo Everything also cites a juddery frame rate on Switch 2 in both handheld and docked modes, and a graphics option only available as a paid extra. The Outerhaven sees a good foundation that could have become a strong game with more substance.
