Ryanair is dropping 12 routes at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) as the winter schedule takes effect on Sunday, the airline and airport operator FBB said. Six destinations will no longer be served directly from BER: Palermo, Marseille, Trieste, Reggio Calabria, Tallinn and Pisa.
Other carriers are taking over the remaining six routes: Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Bologna, Lanzarote, Thessaloniki and Vilnius. The move cuts Ryanair's previous BER offering roughly in half. The Irish carrier has long criticised high airport charges in Germany, particularly at BER. FBB described the cut as a heavy blow, above all financially.
Airport chief Aletta von Massenbach expects about 25.7 million passengers in 2026, down from 26.1 million the previous year, and 25 million to 25.2 million in 2027, compared with an earlier forecast of up to 27 million. Despite the cuts, the operator said eight more destinations can be reached from BER than last winter, as Eurowings and Wizz Air expand.
