The Arc browser is being discontinued. “We have decided to shut down Arc on December 22, 2026,” developer The Browser Company said, according to 9to5Mac. New accounts can no longer be created since Oct. 22, PiunikaWeb reported. Arc had not received new features since May 2025; the company has been owned by software group Atlassian since October 2025.
The wind-down comes in stages: on Nov. 23, the AI features of the Arc Search mobile app will end, according to PiunikaWeb, and users will no longer be able to sign in or sync. On Dec. 22, the browser will stop working on macOS and Windows, accounts will be deactivated and personal data deleted within 30 days. Users can export their data.
The company cited the heavy effort needed to keep a browser secure in the AI era. Development and security teams are focusing on the successor, Dia. Passwords, bookmarks, history and extensions can be transferred there; Dia still lacks the Little Arc feature, according to PiunikaWeb.
