Berlin police are opening the foyer of their headquarters at Platz der Luftbrücke 6 on Sunday, Oct. 25, for Burglary Prevention Day. From noon to 4 p.m., police prevention experts, together with the Berlin carpenters’ guild and security companies, will give free advice on alarm systems and burglar-resistant windows and doors. Police said the reason is that the number of break-ins typically rises again as the dark months begin.
At 1 p.m., a specially prepared security window with special glazing is to be subjected to a real break-in attempt in front of an audience. The police history collection in the same building will also be open. “A burglary is not only about the loss of material possessions,” the police statement said.
Those unable to attend can book a free consultation on protecting their home through the police service line at (030) 4664-979999. Police publish further burglary-prevention advice on berlin.de.
