Authorities are securing election day with a large police presence. In the Burgas region, around 1,050 officers have been assigned to maintain public order and protect the vote, with additional forces in high-risk areas, public broadcaster BNT reported, citing police. The voting machines were distributed under heavy guard; after being tested at the polling stations, the rooms were sealed. The region is using 653 machines, 54 more than in the previous election, and 174 technicians are to fix any malfunctions.
In the Razgrad region, police are examining two new tips received on Saturday: one alleging vote-buying in favor of a party and one about irregularities with documents. The files were sent to prosecutors. Around 300 police officers, firefighters, gendarmes and border police are deployed in the region, which has more than 210 polling stations, 21 of them mobile.
