Bulgarian exchange power 2.27% cheaper on Saturday at €240.34/MWh
The IBEX average price for 24 October falls from Friday. Peak hours get 3.4% cheaper and night and evening hours 1.2% cheaper. Traded volume drops by 7%.
On the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for each hour of the following day is set in an auction. For Saturday 24 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €240.34 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. That is 2.27% less than on Friday, when a megawatt-hour cost €245.91.
In peak hours (8:00 to 20:00) the price falls 3.42% to €229.06 (Friday: €237.16). In the remaining hours (off-peak) it eases 1.19% to €251.63 (Friday: €254.66). As on Friday, night and evening power stays dearer than daytime power, by €22.57 per megawatt-hour.
Traded volume is 87,112.45 MWh, 7.12% less than on Friday (93,794.40 MWh), as is typical at the weekend when factories and offices use less power. In neighbouring markets, Saturday's average prices are €241.67 in Romania, €253.20 in Hungary and €230.22 in Greece.
