DAX after losing week: ECB, Fed, BASF, VW and Mercedes in a week of decisions
The DAX ended the week at 25,181.65 points, down 1.7%. Now come rate decisions by the Fed (Wednesday) and ECB (Thursday), many company results and, on Friday, Germany's first GDP estimate.

The DAX, Germany's benchmark index of its 40 largest listed companies, closed Friday at 25,181.65 points (−0.75%), down 1.7% on the week. The Euro Stoxx 50, the eurozone's benchmark, lost 2.2% over the week. High oil prices, worries about France and doubts over whether costly investment in artificial intelligence will pay off weighed (dpa-AFX).
On Friday evening, after the close, Moody's kept France's credit rating at Aa3 with a negative outlook. It expects debt above 120% of GDP in 2027; the yield gap over German bonds had widened to 170 basis points (Dow Jones/MarketScreener). On Saturday France saw fresh protests against the high cost of living (Euronews). The Fed decides on Wednesday at 19:00 CET, the ECB (the eurozone's central bank) on Thursday at 14:15, with a press conference at 14:45. Robert Greil of Merck Finck expects no ECB rate change but sees a further hike by both central banks in December as likely (dpa-AFX).
Results: Porsche and Beiersdorf on Tuesday; BASF, Deutsche Bank, Mercedes-Benz, Symrise, Traton and Airbus on Wednesday; Volkswagen, Adidas, MTU, Knorr-Bremse, Wacker Chemie and Aixtron on Thursday; Puma, Audi and Fuchs on Friday. On Wednesday TK Accelis, Thyssenkrupp's materials unit, also makes its stock market debut. From the US come Alphabet, Microsoft (Wednesday) and Amazon (Thursday) (Dow Jones, dpa-AFX).
Data: the Ifo index (a survey of German business sentiment) on Monday. On Friday: German labour market data (09:55), the first third-quarter GDP estimates for Germany (10:00) and the eurozone (11:00), and preliminary German inflation (14:00). Helaba economist Claudia Windt does not rule out a slight contraction in Germany in the third quarter (dpa-AFX).
