The American brand Commando, known for lingerie and basics made from technical fabrics, has opened its first "Bodysuit Bar" at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship in New York. Trade publication WWD reported the opening on 21 October. The pop-up is located on the contemporary fashion floor and is scheduled to stay until 2 or 3 November. For Commando, it marks nearly two decades of partnership with the department store.

The focus is on bodysuits, which WWD says are designed as foundational layering pieces or stand-alone wardrobe staples. The selection includes the bestselling styles from the Ballet Body, Classic Microfiber, Neoprene and Pima lines, along with the new Ultimate Cotton line. According to the brand, it is made from 100 percent Italian cotton and is designed to hold its shape and colour. Commando bodysuits have been worn by Dakota Johnson, Olivia Munn, Bella Hadid and Issa Rae, among others, WWD notes.

Founder, designer and chief executive Kerry O'Brien said she was thrilled to launch the first Bodysuit Bar at Saks. The brand's bodysuit category has seen tremendous growth, she said, and embodies its approach to luxury-technical basics. According to WWD, Commando is already in talks with Saks about rolling out the concept to other key stores of the department store chain.
