Batangas province is the preferred site for Vingroup's planned $500 million electric-vehicle factory in the Philippines, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported. Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said the Vietnamese conglomerate was scouting the province's economic zones for a site of at least 300 hectares.

The plant is planned to make up to 200,000 four-wheeled EVs a year, possibly from early 2028. Access to the Port of Batangas suits its automotive arm, VinFast.

Vingroup has committed to the government's EV incentive program, which offers up to 15 billion pesos per enrolled model. "Once the Evis is out, then definitely they will be one of those who will join the Evis," Roque said. Construction and trial runs could start in 2027.
