Bulgaria to unveil 2027 budget next week, Radev pledges deficit cuts and tax relief

At the Sofia Economic Forum, the prime minister listed his priorities: repairing public finances, more money for families, defense and health, and relief for producers.

Bulgaria's government will present its draft 2027 budget next week, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said at the opening of the Sofia Economic Forum, according to the BTA news agency. He named restoring public finances as the top priority.

The cabinet must guarantee incomes, support family policy and investment and substantially cut the deficit and debt at the same time, Radev said, calling these tasks "extremely contradictory, difficult and hard." The plan includes more money for social and family support, defense, health, education, culture and sport, as well as tax relief and incentives for production.

Radev said foreign direct investment and industrial exports were still trending down. The aim is to shift from a model based on consumption, redistribution and cheap labor to growth driven by productivity, innovation and investment. He gave no deficit figures.
