Bulgarian exchange power 3.34% cheaper on Tuesday at €254.58/MWh
The IBEX average price for 27 October is €254.58 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. Night and evening hours fall the most, by 6.5%, while the peak price barely moves.
The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) is the wholesale market where producers, traders and large consumers trade electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour of the next day is set in an auction the day before. For Tuesday 27 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €254.58 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT, 3.34% less than on Monday (€263.39).
During peak hours (8:00 to 20:00), a megawatt-hour costs €266.79 on average, only 0.29% less than Monday's €267.57. The off-peak price falls more clearly, to €242.36, 6.5% below the €259.21 of the previous day. Daytime power is therefore €24.43 per megawatt-hour dearer than night power, a wider gap than on Monday.
Traded volume is 95,941.08 MWh, about 2.2% more than on Monday (93,899.48). Of this, 54,268.55 MWh falls in peak hours and 41,672.53 MWh in the remaining hours. Peak-hour volume is about 5.8% above Monday (51,287.95 MWh), off-peak volume 2.2% below (42,611.52 MWh; own calculation).
