Hamburger SV remain short-handed ahead of Tuesday's second-round German Cup game against Eintracht Frankfurt at 18:00 local time. Forward Yussuf Poulsen is also out with hip problems. Fabio Vieira, Bilal Nadir, Nicolai Remberg and Nicolás Capaldo are among the other absentees, while playing Jordan Torunarigha is considered too risky. In goal, coach Merlin Polzin is picking 23-year-old Sander Tangvik over Daniel Heuer Fernandes: "Sander will be in goal tomorrow. He has earned these moments."
Despite the many absences, Hamburg do not want to complain. "We don't want to put ourselves in the victim role, but deal well with the situation," Polzin said. The goal, he said, is to "put on a cool cup fight" together with the Volksparkstadion crowd.
Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter, who has no new absentees, has not ruled out changes to his starting lineup. "Rotation is certainly a possibility," the Austrian said, adding that Can Uzun is an option to start. "Aggressiveness has to be the basis," Hütter said.
