Froch warns Joshua of a 'mole' in camp over trainer Davison

Carl Froch says Anthony Joshua's reunion with Ben Davison "doesn't sound like an ideal setup". The former Fury trainer could be feeding back information, the ex-champion suggests – without offering evidence.

Former super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch has questioned Anthony Joshua's choice of trainer for his fight with Tyson Fury in Cardiff on December 11. Joshua is working again with Ben Davison, who previously trained Fury. "It doesn't sound like an ideal setup when somebody training you has been talking to your ultimate nemesis and your next opponent," Froch told BetVictor, according to the Mirror.

"If he's training AJ and he's potentially on the phone to Fury, you feel like there's a rat in the camp," Froch said. "There's a mole in the camp feeding back." He also conceded: "I don't know how often they're in touch." He gave no evidence of any actual contact.

Joshua split from Davison after his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in 2024 and then worked with Oleksandr Usyk's team. Froch was surprised by the reunion: "he got splattered by Dubois with Ben Davison in his corner." Amir Khan told Hard Rock Bet, according to the Mirror, that Davison may help Joshua mentally, but a trainer alone will not decide the fight.
