Intimissimi and Calzedonia open their first stores in Canada

The two Italian brands of the Oniverse group have launched in Toronto. Their Canadian partner aims to bring them to at least 20 of the country's major shopping centres over time.

Lingerie brand Intimissimi and hosiery and swimwear brand Calzedonia have arrived in Canada. On 16 October, both opened their first stores at the CF Sherway Gardens shopping centre in Toronto, the trade portal Retail Insider reports. The shops sit side by side in a former Kate Spade unit but each has its own entrance, staff and management. Both brands belong to the Verona-based group Oniverse, formerly known as Calzedonia Group.

The market entry is led by Toronto-based ILT Group, Oniverse's exclusive Canadian partner, which spent about 18 months preparing. The goal is to be present in at least 20 of the country's leading shopping centres, said general manager Andrea Meoni. The next location is an Intimissimi store at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, planned for spring 2027. Montreal and Ottawa are under consideration, while Vancouver is part of longer-term plans.

ILT is starting with standalone stores, and a Canadian online shop is expected to follow later. Meoni explained this with the nature of the range: lingerie differs from many other clothing categories because the product needs to be understood and explained. Oniverse partner Mauro Mammina named building awareness of the brands in Canada as the first priority. ILT also has the rights to develop other group brands such as Tezenis and Falconeri in Canada, but no further openings have been confirmed.
