Amanda Nunes has a clear verdict going into her comeback against bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison. She has sparred with Harrison before, Nunes said on the UFC show "Deep Waters" – and Harrison "still does the same mistakes" as back then. According to MMA Fighting, both trained at American Top Team.
The relationship was apparently tense from the start: when Harrison came to the gym, Nunes said, she did not feel like an open training partner. "I'm the champion in that gym, I brought the belt to that gym." The problem, she said, was sharing the same mat and the same coach: "This is not cool."
Nunes retired in 2023 and vacated her title. If she wins, she wants to carry on: "You gotta defend the belt, for sure. Then we're gonna see." The bout is the co-main event of UFC 334 on 14 November at Madison Square Garden in New York.
