Renovation tax relief: only 886 people claimed it for 2025
Relief of up to 102.26 euros is available for tradesmen's labor in home renovations. Few use it because many tradesmen work without invoices.

Since 2021 the state has offered tax relief on the labor costs of tradesmen for home renovations, but not for materials. The maximum is 102.26 euros, BNT reported. For 2025, 886 people claimed the relief, compared with 751 for 2024.
To qualify, a person must own or co-own the home, the tradesman must not be a relative, and the claimant must have no debts to the state. An invoice or equivalent document for the work, proof of payment and a completed Appendix 10 of the annual tax return are required.
The documents are not attached to the return but must be kept in case the NRA tax agency asks for them. According to BNT, uptake is low because most tradesmen work in the informal sector and do not issue invoices, and the small amount offers little incentive.
