Sony-owned studio Sucker Punch Productions has cut jobs, according to a report by the website Aftermath. The figures vary: VGC and Shacknews, citing Aftermath, put the number at 26, while Engadget reports 24. According to VGC, an internal email obtained by Aftermath says the studio had carefully observed the challenges in the market and reviewed its staffing needs for its next project, and that several positions would be eliminated. It calls it “a hard day” and says the studio will share more details about the future next week.
Washington-based Sucker Punch is known for the Infamous and Sly Cooper series as well as Ghost of Tsushima. Ghost of Yōtei launched on PS5 in October 2025 and, according to Engadget, sold 3.3 million copies in its first month; earlier this month it was followed by the Complete Edition with the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion. Sony and Sucker Punch had not commented by the time the reports were published.
The cuts come amid a wave of reductions across the industry: last week EA closed BioWare, and Xbox is also cutting jobs. According to Engadget, Sony will report its quarterly results in just over a week.
