Dior staged its womenswear show in the Jardin des Tuileries on 29 September during Paris Fashion Week. The runway was built over the park's fountain, dry ice sent mist across the water and trees appeared to grow from its depths. Creative director Jonathan Anderson spoke of "trees in the morning in fog" and of a lightness meant to counter the weight of the house's heritage.
The silhouette nods to Christian Dior's 1947 debut: shorter full skirts, cinched waists and softened shoulders. Pleats recall the skirt of the famous Bar suit, while fine chiffon is printed to resemble tweed or checked wool. Sheer fabrics, lace, feathers and metallic trousers completed the line-up. "I wanted something romantic," Anderson told AnOther Magazine, also citing Jane Austen.
The front row included Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, Rosalía and Anya Taylor-Joy. The house has published the show on its YouTube channel.
