Bulgarian exchange power 24.40% cheaper on Sunday at €175.16/MWh
The IBEX average price for 11 October is €175.16 per megawatt-hour. Daytime hours fall by more than 35%, while traded volume rises by 9.52%.
The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) is a marketplace where producers and traders buy and sell electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for each day is set in an auction the day before. For Sunday 11 October, the average (base) price is €175.16 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT – 24.40% less than on Saturday (€231.68).
Peak hours (9:00 to 20:00) fall the most: €132.35 on average, down 35.65%. In the remaining hours (1:00–8:00 and 21:00–24:00) a megawatt-hour costs €217.97, down 15.41%. Night and evening are thus about €86 dearer than daytime.
Traded volume is 85,044.37 MWh, 9.52% more than on Saturday (77,655.25). On Sundays demand from factories and offices is usually low, and solar plants typically add power during the day. Prices for Monday 12 October will be published this afternoon.
