Texas thrash metal band Power Trip have announced their third studio album, their first since 2017. It is due in spring 2027, though its title and exact date have not been announced. Alongside the announcement, the band released a double single, "Precinct 3" and "Scavenger". According to VISIONS, "Precinct 3" is about the dangers of unchecked power.
It is the band's first album since the death of singer Riley Gale. He died in 2020, aged 34, of a pulmonary oedema caused by a fentanyl overdose. The new singer is Seth Gilmore, known from Skourge and Fugitive, who has performed with the band since late 2023.
The songs were recorded at Empire Sound Studio in Carrollton, Texas, with producer Jacob Hansen, whose credits include Arch Enemy and Volbeat. Guitarist Blake Ibanez said the lyrics "came almost by themselves" and that he believed Gale would have liked the result.
