The second season of the legal drama “All's Fair” premiered at the Rome Film Festival on 24 October. Kris Jenner accompanied her daughter Kim Kardashian in a black velvet hooded cape lined in ivory silk and embroidered with glittering scorpions across the chest. According to InStyle, she paired it with a floor-length white gown and long white gloves. Kim Kardashian wore a 1986 leopard-print gown by Yves Saint Laurent.
The so-called Scorpio cape has a history: Elizabeth Taylor wore it in November 1969 at the celebrations for Princess Grace of Monaco's 40th birthday, which included the “Scorpion Ball” in Monte Carlo. InStyle, citing Vogue, says it was made by the Roman house Tiziani. Christie's suggested that Karl Lagerfeld, who worked for the label at the time, may have designed it. The auction house sold the cape in 2011 – for 74,500 dollars, according to InStyle.
Kim Kardashian revealed on Instagram that the cape now belongs to Kris Jenner: “my mom now owns it and graciously let me wear it in All's Fair.” Kardashian wears the piece herself in the series. On the red carpet in Rome, Jenner posed with Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash, among others. Woman Magazine notes that Elizabeth Taylor herself was not a Scorpio.
