Dana White originally planned to announce Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua at UFC Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn in the summer. Fury appeared on camera, but no announcement came. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, White said, according to MMA Fighting, that a lot had gone wrong since then – using a cruder word.
Now the situation is settled: “We’re promoting and producing the fight,” White said. He had preferred Madison Square Garden in New York, but Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn pushed for the UK. White conceded that choosing the UK has been a success. White does not represent either fighter.
In early October, Hearn disputed White’s role, according to Sherdog, saying the TV production White claimed was prohibited by the contract. Fury and Joshua meet on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, live worldwide on Netflix.
