Alistair Overeem has challenged Rico Verhoeven to a fight on the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua undercard. “Rico Verhoeven… stop hiding. Let’s make history!” the former UFC fighter wrote on Instagram, according to Boxing News. Both men are from the Netherlands.
Kickboxing star Verhoeven, 37, challenged Oleksandr Usyk for a world heavyweight title in May in only his second professional boxing bout and was controversially stopped in round 11. According to Boxing News, Verhoeven may turn down Overeem in favour of a top-10 ranked opponent.
IBF champion Filip Hrgović will not fight on the Cardiff undercard, Boxing News reports, and is instead targeting a homecoming bout in Croatia – ruling out a title shot for Verhoeven against him there. No undercard has yet been officially announced for December 11.
