British architect Norman Foster has designed his first wristwatch together with the watch brand Lebond. According to Wallpaper* and Design Scene it is available as "Natural Titanium" and "Black" editions at 3,500 euros each. The grade 5 titanium case measures 38.5 millimetres, is 10 millimetres thick and water-resistant to 50 metres, designboom reported; there are no conventional lugs. It is powered by an ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement with around 50 hours of power reserve, and a bidirectional 12-hour bezel shows a second time zone.
The watches are individually numbered; the rotor is blue on the titanium version and red on the black one. The Norman Foster Foundation's royalties go to the educational programmes of the Norman Foster Institute, according to designboom. "I think timelessness is really the opposite of fashion. Fashion is transient," Foster told the magazine. To Wallpaper* he said: "The choice of titanium came from performance."
