Bulgarian exchange power 5.6% cheaper on Friday at €302.20/MWh
The IBEX average price for 30 October is €302.20 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. Daytime hours fall by more than 10%, while night-time prices are almost unchanged.
The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) is the marketplace where producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell wholesale electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour of the next day is set in an auction the day before. For Friday 30 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €302.20 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. That is 5.60% less than on Thursday, when it was €320.13.
The drop comes mainly from daytime hours. In peak hours (8:00 to 20:00), a megawatt-hour costs €317.73 on average, 10.07% less than Thursday's €353.31. In the remaining hours (off-peak), the price is €286.68, almost the same as the day before (−0.09%). The gap between daytime and night power narrows from €66.36 to €31.05 per megawatt-hour (own calculation).
Traded volume is 92,864.93 MWh, about 5.7% less than Thursday's 98,490.70 MWh (own calculation). Peak hours account for 47,378.25 MWh and the remaining hours for 45,486.67 MWh.
