The main event of UFC Vegas 124 on November 7 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas has fallen through: welterweight Sean Brady withdrew from his fight with Gabriel Bonfim nine days before the event. On his YouTube programme “The BradyBagz Show”, Brady explained that his knee swelled up after training and developed into an infection. “I knew it was an infection,” he said. He apologised to Bonfim, who had completed a full training camp.
According to Sherdog, the UFC could not find a replacement opponent for Bonfim (20-1) in time; Bonfim confirmed on Instagram that he is no longer on the card. According to Cageside Press, he is expected to be rebooked for a later event.
The new main event, according to Brazilian journalist Laerte Viana, is a heavyweight bout between Johnny Walker (23-10, 1 NC) and Waldo Cortes-Acosta (17-4). The UFC has not yet officially confirmed the booking. Walker knocked out Mick Parkin in the first round of his heavyweight debut at UFC 332, while Cortes-Acosta lost his last two fights on points – to Alexander Volkov and Curtis Blaydes.
