Hamburger SV lost 1-0 at SC Paderborn on Saturday, its fourth defeat of the season after three straight Bundesliga wins. The goal came from Rayan Philippe, who is on loan at the promoted club from Hamburg. The substitute forward struck a low shot from the edge of the box in the 88th minute after a pass from Felix Götze. According to Bundesliga Match Facts, the chance had only a 5% probability of a goal.

Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes had earlier made several saves against Santiago Castaneda, and Paderborn's Laurin Curda hit the post. Hamburg also lost Fábio Vieira to an early injury. In front of a sellout crowd of 15,000, Hamburg dropped to 10th place with nine points, while Paderborn is 12th with eight points (as of Saturday).

Hamburg coach Merlin Polzin complained about the buildup to the goal. “Of course it's a clear foul,” he said, according to the SID news agency. “The player only goes into the man after Warmed has headed the ball. It has to be whistled.” He added: “That wasn't a good game from us.” In the German Cup, Hamburg hosts Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday, and Paderborn plays VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday.
