Tottenham beat Chelsea 2-0 in the London derby on Saturday. In the 77th minute, Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders punched a Mateus Fernandes corner into his own net under pressure from Spurs defender Jan Paul van Hecke. Three minutes later, Cole Palmer received a second yellow card, and Mathys Tel sealed the win with a solo goal in the 87th.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham had won only one of its 34 previous Premier League visits to Chelsea, and its last clean-sheet win at Stamford Bridge came in December 1986. Penders became only the second Chelsea goalkeeper after Petr Čech to score a Premier League own goal. Chelsea stays fourth with 13 points, while Tottenham is 12th with nine (as of Saturday).
“They deserved this win and prepared very well,” Spurs coach Roberto De Zerbi told Sky Sports, referring to his team. “Now we are a complete team.” Chelsea coach Xabi Alonso said of Palmer's red card: “It is one to learn from in the future for sure.”
