Ride-hailing company Uber is giving OpenAI's AI agent ChatGPT Work to more than 30,000 employees worldwide. OpenAI and Uber announced the move on 22 October; around 1,000 employees had previously piloted the tool. According to OpenAI, it is Uber's first company-wide deployment of an agentic platform for knowledge work. ChatGPT Work is part of ChatGPT Enterprise and is designed to carry even multi-step tasks through to a finished result.

The agent is to be used in operations, finance, marketing and product, among other areas – for research, meeting briefs, presentations, data analysis and workflows across apps. It connects to Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack, and its default model is GPT-6.1 Sol. Uber's software engineers will keep using OpenAI's coding tool Codex. The rollout is supported by an internal AI skills library, approved integrations and training.

OpenAI President Greg Brockman said: “Uber is putting AI to work across its business.” Both companies plan to share insights on adoption, use cases and measurable outcomes as the rollout progresses. OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Work in July.
