Germany's tagesschau published a video report from fashion week in Johannesburg on 24 October; according to its title, it looks at what designer fashion from South Africa looks like. This season, South African Fashion Week (SAFW) is presenting autumn/winter 2027 collections. According to Gauteng province's events portal, the shows are held at The Forum in the Hyde Park Corner shopping centre and end on Sunday, 25 October. The fashion week was founded by Lucilla Booyzen.

The schedule includes Gert-Johan Coetzee, Thabo Makhetha, Fundudzi by Craig Jacobs, Michael Peter Reid and Martin John Steenkamp, among others. Fashion label Black Coffee shows its collection together with Joburg Ballet, and the label Ephymol closes the week with a denim show. The opening programme featured Pierre Cardin's Young Designers Award, held in South Africa for the first time: 20 fashion students were shortlisted, and the prize is a three-month internship at the brand's design studio in Paris.

Saturday evening was set aside for the show “Field to Fashion”, in which players from football club Orlando Pirates take to the runway dressed by Neo Serati, David Tlale, Good Good Good and Yona. “We want these connections to lead to more interest in South African design,” Booyzen said. David Tlale also presented the talent format “The Intern by DT” with his academy, in which young designers show their work alongside his own collection.
