Nicolò Tresoldi has reignited the debate over his international future with three goals in Club Brugge's 4-3 win at Inter Milan. The 22-year-old scored on Tuesday night from the penalty spot (30') and in the 63rd and 74th minutes. According to SID, he is now the youngest German to score a Champions League hat-trick, taking the record from Karim Adeyemi, who scored three for Borussia Dortmund in a 7-1 win over Celtic.
Born in Sardinia, the forward has played for DFB youth teams since 2022 and is a key player for Germany's U21s. According to SID, Germany coach Jürgen Klopp and Italy coach Roberto Mancini have both spoken to him. Gazzetta dello Sport wrote after the match: "After an evening like this, the hope remains that he will choose us."
Tresoldi himself said, according to FussballTransfers: "I am happy with my path in the German national team." He said he had spoken with Klopp, Mancini and both federations and explained how he sees things. His first goal is the 2027 U21 European title – according to SID, he will only decide on the senior team after that.
