The administrative court in Potsdam has upheld a ban on an AfD advertising spot from the 2024 election campaign, broadcaster ZDF reported on Tuesday evening. The Berlin-Brandenburg media authority had prohibited the ad citing youth protection: it said the spot spread sweeping stereotypes, portraying people with dark skin as threatening in a way that could foster racist attitudes.

The AfD had sought to show the clip online again and lost in court. According to the court, four months after the election the spot was merely party advertising.
