The UFC awarded four new contracts at the season 10 finale of Dana White's Contender Series at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on Tuesday night. The spotlight was on Smilla Sundell: the 21-year-old former ONE Championship Muay Thai champion won a unanimous decision (29-28 on all three cards) at women's bantamweight over Aline Pereira, the 36-year-old sister of UFC star Alex Pereira.
Contracts also went to Luis Francischinelli, who stopped Will Rentz with punches at 2:18 of the first round at welterweight, middleweight Douglas da Lapa, who finished Davi Cabral by TKO 19 seconds into the third round, and lightweight Greg Foster after a decision win (29-28 x3) over Jason Asher.
Erick Visconde missed out despite a clear decision win (30-27 x3) over Ilias Bulaid in the featherweight main event. According to MMA Fighting, White said Visconde showed promise but did not perform as expected. He initially thought Sundell was too young but was outvoted.
