Vienna's Donauinselfest has released the official aftermovie of its 2026 edition on its YouTube channel. The 43rd festival ran July 3–5, the first time during the summer school holidays, after it was pushed back a week because of the Formula One Grand Prix in Spielberg. Organizers said it offered about 700 hours of programming with some 200 acts on 14 stages across a 4.5-kilometer site, drawing hundreds of thousands of people over the three days. Admission was free.
Performers included Nico Santos, Giant Rooks, Zartmann, Kamrad and Gert Steinbäcker, with Avatar, Airbourne and Feuerschwanz on the rock stage. Mayor Michael Ludwig said the festival had "fittingly ushered in the Viennese summer." The Samaritan aid service recorded 740 call-outs, none of them serious.
The 44th Donauinselfest is scheduled for June 25–27, 2027, returning to the last weekend of June. "We are not assuming in our planning that this will happen again," said Jörg Neumayer, state party secretary of the Vienna Social Democrats (SPÖ Wien), which organizes the festival, referring to the extreme weather in June 2026. Program details are to follow in the coming months, according to project manager Julia Healy.
