Bulgarian distribution grid operator ERM Zapad, part of the Electrohold group, is investing 6.5 million euros this year in the power network of the Lovech region, nearly 1.2 million euros more than in 2025. The company announced the figure at a meeting with Deputy Regional Governor Dilyana Pironkova and local mayors, energy news portal 3E news reported. More than half, 3.95 million euros, goes to modernising and digitalising medium-voltage facilities, including 65 remote-controlled load switches on 22 lines of 20 kilovolts.

The low-voltage network will receive 973,000 euros, more than twice as much as before, while 451,000 euros are earmarked for clearing corridors along medium-voltage lines and 590,000 euros for relocating meter boxes. About 900,000 euros are set aside for connecting new customers and renewable energy installations. Projects include a new transformer station in Lovech, the replacement of a medium-voltage cable in Troyan and the complete overhaul of low-voltage networks in Apriltsi, Teteven, Lovech, Lukovit and 13 villages.

ERM Zapad also urged municipalities to share information on their air quality programmes. Replacing solid-fuel stoves with heat pumps, air conditioners and solar panels must be coordinated with grid development, the company said.
