Bayern Munich will be without captain Manuel Neuer for Tuesday night's Champions League match at Viking Stavanger (21:00 CEST). The goalkeeper missed Monday's open training session in Norway. According to coach Vincent Kompany, Neuer felt something in his foot during the game in Augsburg, and it then developed further. Kompany said the decision was purely medical.

The Belgian does not believe the problem is that bad, but said it was unclear whether it would take two days or two weeks. Jonas Urbig, 23, will start in goal; he has already played this season in the cup at Osnabrück and in the Bundesliga at Elversberg.

Neuer had come under criticism after an error straight from kick-off in the 2-2 draw at Augsburg, after which sporting director Max Eberl insisted there were no doubts about him. The match in Stavanger will be played on artificial turf.
