Chinese electric-car and robotics group XPENG has for the first time given a timetable for its humanoid robot IRON in Europe. Founder and CEO He Xiaopeng presented it on Sunday at an event in Paris on the eve of the Paris Motor Show: mass production is to start in late 2026, deliveries are planned for the first half of 2027 and the European rollout for the second half of 2027. XPENG did not give prices, the first countries or a sales model.

IRON will initially be used in XPENG showrooms and on company sites – for guided tours, shopping assistance and accompanying patrols. Industrial and household uses are to follow later. According to the trade site EV, the production version has 76 degrees of freedom in the body and 21 in each hand and runs on three in-house Turing chips. XPENG commissioned the production lines in September, saying more than 80 percent of core processes are automated.

At the motor show (12 to 18 October), visitors can also ride as passengers in the L03 SUV to experience the NGP AI driver assistant in Paris traffic – in the official Autonomous Lab, where Tesla is the only other carmaker taking part. NGP is not yet available to customers in Europe; XPENG is aiming for a global rollout in 2027 and is adapting the system at its development centre in Munich.
