DAX ahead of the new week: oil eases, banks and inflation in focus
Broker IG sees the DAX opening 0.7% higher. Brent eases to about 103 dollars in the morning. This week brings US bank results and inflation data from Germany, the US and the euro area.

Before trading starts on Monday, broker IG expects the DAX benchmark index (Germany's 40 largest listed companies) to open 0.7% higher, Der Aktionär and Börse Express reported early in the morning. Such an indication is only an estimate based on off-exchange prices. On Friday the DAX closed 1.13% higher at 25,087.27 points on Xetra. Over the week it was down 0.6%. The MDAX closed at 29,989.90 points (+1.64%) and the Euro Stoxx 50 at 6,173.37 points (+0.76%, about −1% on the week).
Asia offers few signals: Tokyo is closed for a public holiday. According to finanzen.at (as of 07:11 CEST), Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 0.17% and the Shanghai Composite down 0.12%. Oil eased in the morning: according to AP, Brent cost 103.31 dollars a barrel at around 06:30 CEST, 1.4% less than on Friday. AP and Reuters say the market is reacting to Trump's announced diesel deal with Russia and to a pause he announced in Russian and Ukrainian attacks on energy facilities. Attacks on the airport of the Saudi capital Riyadh and on tankers near the Strait of Hormuz are keeping Brent above 100 dollars, Reuters reports. In the US the bond market is closed today for a holiday, while stock exchanges are open.
News on DAX companies: on Friday evening the EU and China reached a compromise, dpa reported. China will limit its exports of hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars to Europe; the German car industry association VDA called it a first positive signal. Volkswagen publishes third-quarter deliveries at 11:00, and Porsche holds a pre-close call (a talk with analysts before quarterly results). Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing called for faster reforms in an interview with "Bild am Sonntag". Deutsche Telekom shares slumped 7.9% on Friday after SpaceX bought US mobile spectrum.
The week: on Tuesday at 08:00, German consumer prices for September (second estimate), and before the US market open, results from JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Wells Fargo. On Wednesday at 14:30, US inflation, plus Bank of America and Morgan Stanley. On Thursday, US retail sales and TSMC; on Friday at 11:00, euro-area inflation. The ZEW index (sentiment among financial experts) is not due until 20 October.
