AC Milan were held to a 1-1 draw at Sassuolo in the sixth round of Serie A on Sunday. Adrien Rabiot gave Milan the lead in the 63rd minute from a Luka Modrić assist, but Odenthal equalized from a corner five minutes later. Late on, a goal by Sassuolo's Thorstvedt was ruled out for a foul on Gonçalo Ramos. Milan remain unbeaten with 12 points from six games but drew for the third time.
The game was overshadowed by an injury to Matteo Gabbia, making his first start of the season. The defender was carried off on a stretcher after about 15 minutes and was replaced by De Winter. Further tests were scheduled for Monday. "I still don't know the exact type or extent, nor how long his recovery will take," coach Ruben Amorim said, adding he was "really sad" for a player who had earned his place.
"We deserved to take the lead, but then after the goal we didn't control the game," Amorim told DAZN Italia, adding that conceding from a corner "cannot happen." Milan next play at Salzburg in the Europa League.
