Cologne will be without Ellyes Skhiri for an extended period. The club said Sunday evening that an MRI scan revealed an ankle injury "that will result in a longer break." It did not give a timeline. Skhiri was substituted with the injury in first-half stoppage time of the 2-1 derby win over Borussia Mönchengladbach and was replaced by Tom Krauß.
The team dedicated the win to Skhiri. "The win is clearly also for Flaco. I'm incredibly sorry for Flaco," Krauß said. Coach René Wagner said: "I told him that he has our support."
Skhiri joined Cologne from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer. Cologne visit his former club on Friday. They have seven points after five rounds.
