Universal has released the first trailer for the horror film 'River.' Three estranged siblings return to their rural hometown after their father's death to scatter his ashes on a remote river. When their boat breaks down as darkness falls and there is no phone signal, a masked figure appears on the shore.
Jane Levy ('Evil Dead') and Jessica Rothe ('Happy Death Day') star alongside Max Mattern. The killer is played by Dane DiLiegro, who played the Predator in 'Prey.' Joshua Giuliano wrote and directed; it is his first feature.
'River' premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Universal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster acquired it for $10 million, according to Bloody Disgusting. It opens in US theaters on Jan. 15, 2027; according to Moviebreak, no German release date has been set yet.
