Bayern Munich had a restless night before their Champions League away game at Viking Stavanger. According to Sky Sport, unknown persons set off fireworks outside the Bavarians' team hotel at 1:15 a.m. According to Swiss outlet Blick, the culprits were Viking supporters. There was initially no information on arrests and no statement from either club.

For Viking, the game is the biggest in the club's 127-year history. The Champions League newcomers lost their opener 3-1 at VfB Stuttgart, while Bayern beat Bodø/Glimt 5-0. Asked whether Bayern had weaknesses, captain Zlatko Tripic replied "Yes, many" (in German translation), but declined to name them. He said Bayern perhaps had the best attacking weapons in the world, but that space opens up when they send many players forward.

Viking are also counting on the artificial pitch at their home ground. Coach Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim, who shares the head coach role with Morten Jensen, said it could be a small advantage that Bayern have hardly played on artificial grass so far. Kick-off is at 9 p.m. CEST.
