Shots were fired at a closed cafe in Berlin's Neukoelln district overnight into Tuesday. A resident heard gunfire at around 1:30 a.m. and called police. Officers found bullet holes in the building's facade and in the cafe's shop window. According to initial findings, no one was injured.

Police said several men are believed to have fired the shots. Shortly afterward, a black car carrying several people reportedly sped away. No arrests were made initially, and nothing is yet known about the suspects or a possible motive.

The State Criminal Police Office's special unit Ferrum has taken over the investigation into property damage and weapons law violations. The unit of about 100 detectives specializes in gun crime. Investigators have been seeing more shootings in Berlin for months.
