VfB Stuttgart won 2-0 (1-0) at newly promoted SC Paderborn on Saturday for their first away win of the season. Jeff Chabot headed the visitors in front in the 25th minute from a cross by Germany international Maximilian Mittelstädt. Chris Führich, who according to Sky was facing his former club, settled the game in the 83rd minute.

Josha Vagnoman could have doubled the lead just before the half-hour mark but hit the post with a rebound. After a strong first half, Stuttgart had to hold their nerve after the break, according to Sky.

Führich and Vagnoman were in head coach Jürgen Klopp's first squad for the Nations League games in Amsterdam and Augsburg, and Mittelstädt in the second one for the matches against Serbia and in Greece. Klopp has announced a much smaller squad for November, when Germany play Serbia in Belgrade on 13 November and the Netherlands in Berlin on 16 November.
