Several shots were fired at a single-family home in Berlin's Neukölln district at about 3:15 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, police said. A resident heard the shots and called police. The perpetrator fled; the Tagesspiegel reports he was masked. Officers found several bullet holes in the glass front of the entrance.

No one was injured, according to police. The investigation was taken over by the task force “Ferrum” of the state criminal investigation office, which targets gun violence in Berlin. Based on the reports available, police have given no details on suspects, motive or background.

According to the Tagesspiegel, the “Ferrum” unit within the police and “Telum” at the public prosecutor's office were set up in response to rising gun violence and target firearms use in organised crime. Based on the reports available, it is unclear whether this incident is connected to that milieu. The person who fled has not been caught, and the investigation continues.
